Osteospermum Astra Series
Common name: African Daisy
The Osteospermum Astra series are the most compact African Daisies on the market. Their bright flowers are produced in profusion atop compact, mid-green foliage. With a range of colours, these varieties are perfect for bringing colour and impact to any setting. Try using decorative pots to contrast the flower colour or create an informal hedge with multiple colours. With a variety of flower types and colours, including two 'spooned' types, we're certain there is an Astra for you and your garden.
Height to 30cm
Width to 40cm
Full sun to part shade, keep sheltered from frost.
The Astra series are heat and drought tolerant once established. Pot specimens will require more attention when it comes to watering, garden plants will appreciate a bit of supplementary water during prolongued heat.
Apply a good quality, general purpose fertiliser every other week for pot specimens. For garden plantings use a general purpose slow release fertiliser in spring to give it a boost.
Cut back after flowering by about one third of the stem. Be sure not to cut too far back into stems. This will stimulate fresh growth and allow you to shape the plant should it become untidy.
