Argyranthemum Sunny Days
Commonly known as a Marguerite Daisy, here is a variety with an extra unusual, yet outstanding appearance for a daisy. Soft yellow petals partner with a 'kapow', bright yellow anemone centre. The brilliant colour of the flower is contrasted by the interesting mid green foliage. A variety sure to bring a smile to your face when in full flower.
Height to 60cm
Width to 45cm
Plant in full or part sun position with well drained soils. If drainage is poor, such as in most clay soils, break down the clay or build up your garden bed to provide good drainage.
Federation Daisies aren’t particularly thirsty plants but they will benefit from regular watering, particularly whilst establishing and when the flower buds are forming. The plants will be able to withstand short periods of dryness once established. Tub plants should be kept evenly moist.
Feed in autumn and spring with controlled release fertiliser to promote flower formation and good plant health.
Federation Daisies were bred to branch naturally from the base and stay nice and compact. They don’t need pruning as a rule, perhaps a very light trim to remove spent flowers, if desired. Do not cut into old wood as this could kill the plant.
Pests and Diseases
The plants are seldom attacked by pests, but if aphids appear they can be hosed off the plants with a strong jet of water. Alternatively, apply an appropriate insecticide at the rate recommended by the manufacturer.
