Scaevola Aussie Crawl
Scaevola aemula hybrid
PBR Name: Scacrawl
A beautiful, free-flowering variety featuring many clusters of large, purple-blue flowers that cover strong, mat-forming foliage. Flowers throughout the warmer months.
Height to 30cm
Width to 1.5m
Like most native plants, Scaevola enjoys free-draining soil although they are tolerant of a wide range of soil types. If planting into pots, use a native potting mix that meets Australian standards. Choose a full sun position and mulch around in-ground plants.
Scaevola enjoy moist soil for optimum flowering response but will handle periods without irrigation. Water if you see the foliage wilting or the centre of the plant drying out.
Feed them a couple of times of the year (early spring and mid summer) with a general purpose controlled release fertiliser.
Cut the plant back if you feel it needs shaping or revitalising. Try cutting back by around one third. Don’t cut back too far into the semi-woody stems of Aussie Spirit.
Pests and Diseases
Scaevola is not particularly susceptible to any pest or disease. Aphids may be a problem at times but these can be managed in various ways. Talk to your plant retailer about appropriate treatments to solve any problem.
