These Gazania are recommended by NGINA as a non-invasive alternative to seed-grown Gazania. They are long-lived, hardy, reliable, low maintenance plants that are able to withstand extended periods of dryness. These quick, low growing varieties will produce regular flushes of flowers throughout the year.
Montezuma PBR: Sugamo
Sunset Jane PBR: Sugaja
Exempt from the declaration of gazania in South Australia and is legal to be sold in South Australia.
|Flowering Period||Summer, Autumn, Winter, Spring|
|Maintenance||Able to handle many soil types and look best when planted in multiples. Select a sunny position and space at about 40cm intervals. Occasionally remove spent flower heads if desired and that about all you need to worry about. Summer is a good time to do this.|
|Fertiliser||Feed them with a small amount of a general purpose controlled release fertiliser in spring and autumn.|
|Watering||These drought tolerant plants rarely need supplementary watering above that of natural rainfall. Of course, all plants need water, so it’s a good idea to water the plants as they are budding up as well as in the heat of mid-summer.|
|Pest & Diseases||Gazania has no major pest or disease issues.|
|Tolerances||Salt Tolerant (Coastal), Drought Tolerant, Light Frost Tolerant|
|Uses||Border, Garden, Ground Cover, Landscape, Pots & Tubs, Retaining Walls|
